Born and raised in Kuwait, Haya Al Abdulkareem started her design journey in London whilst studying at the prestigious Central St Martins Collage of Art and Design. From being an art curator and gallery agent to starting her own brand, Haya has several years of experience in the fashion and Art industry acquired both in London and in Kuwait.

Sensing a gap in the market for sustainably sourced and affordable leather goods, Haya was inspired to launch FOLKLORE THE LABEL. The brand designs continue to establish a clean and modern aesthetic redefining the outlook of style in the region.

FOLKLORE is a leather goods brand established in 2014 by Central St Martin’s alumni Haya Al Abdulkareem. The Kuwaiti brand focuses on bringing geometric shapes and modern aesthetics into functional accessories.

Contemporary aesthetics and limited styles are the brand's ethos with a focus on artisan production and using only the best high quality sustainable materials available. Each collection is designed and inspired byArt, History, Traditions & Folklore.
